Q. Lazzarus, born Diane Luckey, was a reclusive singer best known for her song "Goodbye Horses," which gained fame from its features in the 1988 film Married To The Mob and the 1991 film The Silence Of The Lambs, both directed by Jonathan Demme. Before her music career, she worked as a taxi driver in New York City. Lazzarus also contributed music to other Demme films, including a soulful rendition of "Heaven" by Talking Heads in Philadelphia and music for Something Wild. Despite her cult classic status, little is known about her or her backing band. In 2018, she broke her silence, expressing her disinterest in returning to the music industry and her contentment living a private life as a bus driver in Staten Island, NY. Luckey appreciated her fans' support over the years but chose not to make any further public statements or appearances. She passed away on July 19, 2022, at the age of 61.
