Quarteto Novo was a short-lived Brazilian quartet formed in 1967. The group consisted of a percussionist, guitarist, and bassist who were previously known as Trio Novo. They changed their name to Quarteto Novo when they joined forces with additional members. The band was pioneering in playing a sound associated with Northeastern Brazil, blending baião with jazz improvisations. Despite having recorded only one eponymous album, Quarteto Novo has had a significant influence on Brazilian music.
