Quartette Trés Bien was an American jazz combo based in St. Louis, founded in 1959 and led by pianist Jeter Thompson. The group began recording in 1962 and featured bassist Richard Simmons, drummer Albert St. James, and percussionist Percy James, who added a Latin flavor to their sound. Albert St. James had previously accompanied notable musicians such as Charlie Parker, Tab Smith, and Jimmy Forrest. The quartet performed for over ten years before disbanding in 1973. Following the split, Jeter Thompson formed the Trio Tres Bien with his brothers, Harold Thompson on bass and Howard Thompson on drums.
