Quazar is a music project from Utrecht / Amsterdam, The Netherlands, initially consisting of Gert van Veen (also known as "Magic") and another member. Both had previously played in a band but did not achieve significant success. In 1989, van Veen was a music journalist for the national newspaper 'De Volkskrant', where he wrote articles about "The New Dance Craze." Together with a famous resident DJ of 'The Roxy' club in Amsterdam and another member, they produced 'Pay The Piper', which is often considered the first Dutch house record, although a Rotterdam artist was also a pioneer in the genre. Van Putten, van Veen, and De Clercq had their first underground hit with 'Dish & Tell' as a group, part of which was sampled by another artist. Quazar's first record, 'Seven Stars', gained broad audience recognition, even among mellow-oriented DJs, and marked a milestone for hard (euro) techno. Their second release, 'Here & Now', was experimental and featured an intro by a guitarist known as AKA. The remix edition included the melodic techno track 'Midsummernightsdream'. The group rose to prominence in the Netherlands when they were featured in the classic documentary 'House gewoon uit je dak', part of the Impact series by Dutch VARA-television. They successfully entered the booming market for (album) CDs, with their outstanding first album 'The Seven Stars' selling over 10
