Quincy Jones was an American record producer, conductor, arranger, film score composer, television producer, and trumpeter. Born on March 14, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, he became one of the most respected and prolific music producers of his time. His first known recordings as a trumpeter and arranger were on two MGM 78s from May 1951. Jones is recognized for his own releases and for producing a diverse range of artists across genres such as jazz, soul, funk, and pop. He is perhaps best known for producing the iconic album "Thriller" in 1979, which is widely regarded as a classic, along with its hugely successful follow-ups, "Bad" in 1982 and "Dangerous" in 1987. In 1993, he founded a magazine. Jones was the father of actresses Rashida Jones and Kidada Jones (with actress Peggy Lipton), film and music producer Quincy Jones III, and dancer and model Martina Jones (with photo model Ulla Andersson). He passed away on November 3, 2024, in Los Angeles, California.
