Réseau d'Ombres emerged from Laval, France, in 1983, with Pierre-Louis "Ernst" Lamballais on vocals and synths, later joined by brothers Jean-Marc and Pierre-Yves "Karl" Hamard on bass and drums. Their music, a potent blend of coldwave and synth-punk, drew comparisons to early Killing Joke and Bauhaus, characterized by relentless rhythms and hypnotic synths. Between 1984 and 1987, they released several tapes, two 7" singles, and two LPs, including "Sotcha" (1985) and "Faction" (1987). Their live cassette "Ireos" was reissued in 2014, reaffirming their enduring influence on the French underground scene.
