R. D. Burman was a renowned Bollywood film composer, born on June 27, 1939, in Calcutta, then British India. He passed away on January 4, 1994, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. As the only child of a music director, Burman was active in the music industry from the 1960s to the 1990s, composing music for over 330 films. He collaborated extensively with his wife, whom he married in 1980, producing many super hit songs. In addition to his compositions, he also provided vocals for some of his works and composed music for numerous songs sung by his sister-in-law.
