R. Stevie Moore, born Robert Steven Moore on January 18, 1952, in Nashville, Tennessee, is an influential American musician known for pioneering lo-fi and DIY music. Often referred to as the "godfather of home recording," he has made a significant impact on the cassette underground and is recognized for his influence on bedroom and hypnagogic pop artists in the post-millennium era. Since 1968, Moore has self-released approximately 400 albums, in addition to about three dozen "official" albums, mostly compilations, released on various labels. He announced his retirement from all musical activity and interviews on New Year's Eve in 2019 through his website.
