**Bio: Rainbow** Rainbow, also known as Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow or Blackmore's Rainbow, is a British rock band established in 1975 and led by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. The band's name was inspired by the Rainbow Bar and Grill in Hollywood. In 1973, Blackmore experienced significant personnel changes within the band, with members being replaced. The new lineup sought to introduce different musical styles, but Blackmore's proposal to record the song "Black Sheep of the Family" with "Sixteenth Century Greensleeves" was rejected. Consequently, he recorded the song with Dio's band, which led to the creation of the album "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow" recorded in early 1975. After releasing three studio albums and embarking on an extensive world tour in 1977-78, Blackmore aimed to shift the band's direction away from the "sword and sorcery" theme, which led to Dio's departure from the group. Following this, Blackmore achieved commercial success with the new vocalist by releasing the hit single “Since You Been Gone.” After several lineup changes and albums, Blackmore disbanded Rainbow in early 1984 to rejoin Deep Purple. He later reformed the band in early 1994 after leaving Deep Purple for good, but turned his focus to Renaissance and medieval music. Rainbow played its final concert in 1997 in Esbjerg, Denmark.
