Ralph Young (July 1, 1918 – August 22, 2008) was an American singer and actor, best known as one half of the singing duo Sandler and Young, alongside Tony Sandler. Young began his career in the military during World War II, where he formed his own band. He later sang with various big bands and became the lead vocalist for a prominent group. In the 1950s, he performed at the Latin Quarter, which was owned by Barbara Walters' father, Lou Walters, and operated by Lenny Green. His talent and wit earned him the nickname “the king of the production singers” from Walters. Young also starred in the Broadway musical “Whoop-Up” from 1958 to 1959. From the 1960s through the early 1990s, the tuxedo-clad duo of Sandler and Young released 22 albums, headlined major hotel and casino showrooms in the U.S. and abroad, and made numerous guest appearances on popular television variety shows.
