Ram Dass, born Richard Alpert on April 6, 1931, in Boston, Massachusetts, was a contemporary spiritual teacher renowned for his bestselling book, Be Here Now, published in 1971. He gained prominence for his association with Harvard University in the early 1960s and his travels to India, where he connected with the Hindu guru Neem Karoli Baba. Ram Dass passed away on December 22, 2019, in Maui, Hawaii.
