Ramiro Musotto was an Argentine master-percussionist born in La Plata and raised in Bahía Blanca. At the age of 18, he moved to Brazil, where he spent most of his professional career, living in São Paulo, Bahia, and Rio de Janeiro, while frequently returning to Argentina. Since 1982, he explored Brazilian rhythms and became a master of the berimbau, utilizing the instrument for percussion, melody, and background loops in his recordings. Initially focused on Afro-Brazilian grooves, he later incorporated multiethnic global music elements from Africa, South America, Asia, and Europe. Musotto collaborated with numerous renowned Brazilian and Argentine artists, including Sergio Mendes, Caetano Veloso, Gato Barbieri, Daniela Mercury, Gilberto Gil, Marisa Monte, and Virginia Rodriguez. His debut album, "Sudaka," featured field recordings of Amazon Indian chants, Candomble spirit rhythms, Brazilian percussion, and everyday street sounds, layered over electronic dance grooves. He described it as “a psychedelic trip throughout and into the Afro-Brazilian and South American culture.” His most recent album, "Civilizacao & Barbarye," was released in Argentina as "Civilización y Barbarie" and was presented at WOMEX 2008 in Sevilla. Ramiro Musotto passed away on September 11, 2009, in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 45. He was remembered as both an accomplished electronic musician
