Ramona Brooks (Jan. 8, 1951 - June 2, 2014) was a talented Soul singer and session vocalist. She was briefly a member of a music group but was replaced before they recorded their only album. Prior to her time with Barry Manilow, Ramona appeared in two off-Broadway productions and participated in a summer stock company of Hair. She made her Broadway debut in 1976 in I Have A Dream, which featured Billy Dee Williams as Martin Luther King, Jr. She later took on a leading role in The Magic Show, starring Doug Henning. In 1978, Ramona released her self-titled solo album, which included the single "Skinnydippin." In 1980, she produced the 12-inch dance single "I Don't Want You Back," which has since become an underground classic. In her later years, Ramona battled cancer and passed away on June 2, 2014, at Heartland Hospice in Oregon.
