The Ramones were a USA punk rock band formed in 1974 and disbanded in 1996. Hailing from Forest Hills, a neighborhood in Queens, New York City, the original lineup consisted of singer Jeffrey Hyman (Joey Ramone), guitarist John Cummings (Johnny Ramone), bassist Douglas Colvin (Dee Dee Ramone), and drummer Tom Erdelyi (Tommy Ramone). After Tommy left the band in early 1978, he was replaced by Marc Bell, who was later fired in 1983 and replaced by Richard Beau. In 1987, Beau left and was briefly replaced by Elvis Ramone for two performances before Marky returned in September of that year. In 1989, Dee Dee left and was replaced by Christopher John Ward. Tragically, the band lost several members over the years: Joey Ramone passed away in 2001 from lymphoma, Dee Dee died in 2002, Johnny Ramone died in 2004, and Tommy Ramone passed away in 2014, making him the last original member to die. The Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 as performers.
