Ramuntcho Matta, born Miguel Matta Echaurren on February 4, 1960, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, is a French producer, sound designer, and visual artist. He is known for his collaborations with Beat poet Brion Gysin, jazz musicians, sound poets, and many others. Matta co-founded the SRR label under the name Michael Pope and produced post-punk records in the early 1980s. He achieved commercial success with the post-disco hit "Toi mon toit" in 1985. Following this success, he pursued a solo career, which led to challenges with artistic directors trying to replicate his successful musical formula. However, Matta eventually returned to his more leftfield roots and has continued to produce and release new music since then.
