Ran Slavin is an Israeli musician, artist, filmmaker, and cross-media audio-visual artist based in Tel Aviv. Born on December 1, 1967, in Jerusalem, Israel, he began his artistic career in the early 1990s. After leaving a band in the mid-1990s, Slavin pursued a solo music career, releasing several albums and collaborating with other musicians, including Israeli composer and producer Yoav Goren. His musical style blends ambient, electronic, and experimental sounds. In addition to music, Slavin is an accomplished visual artist and filmmaker, with his artwork exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, such as the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, and the ZKM Center for Art and Media in Germany. He has directed and produced several short films and documentaries, many of which have been screened at international film festivals. Slavin's work often explores themes of identity, memory, and technology, earning him recognition for his innovative approach to art and music. He has received numerous awards and grants, including the Landau Prize for Arts and Sciences in 2003 and the Israel Lottery Council for Culture and Arts Award in 2017.
