DJ Ranking Trevor (1952 - 2012) was a pioneering figure in the Jamaican music scene, known for his role in popularizing toasting, a form of rap that laid the groundwork for hip-hop. He began his musical career at the young age of 15 when he cut his first record. His breakthrough came in the UK reggae charts in 1977 with hits like "Cave Man Skank" and "Three Piece Chicken and Chips." Tragically, Ranking Trevor passed away in a motorcycle accident in Kingston, Jamaica, in 2012.
