Rare Earth is an American psychedelic rock and psychedelic soul group hailing from Detroit, Michigan. The band features key personnel including Gil Bridges on saxophone, flute, and vocals; Peter Hoorelbeke (also known as Peter Rivera) on lead vocals and drums; John Parrish (also known as John Persh) on bass guitar, trombone, and vocals; Rod Richards (born Rod Cox) on guitar and vocals; and Kenny James (born Ken Folcik) on keyboards. In late 1969, Edward "Eddie" Guzman joined the group, contributing congas and various percussive instruments.
