Rashied Ali was an American jazz drummer known for his work in free jazz and avant-garde music. He was born on July 15, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed away on March 12, 2009. Ali gained prominence for his collaborations with notable musicians, including John Coltrane. He was known for his innovative drumming style and was a key figure in the New York jazz scene. In addition to performing, Ali was also a bandleader and recorded several albums, including those with his own quintet.
