Ras Kass, born John Austin in 1973 in Carson, California, is a West Coast MC raised in Watts. He is a history and socio-political student who majored in philosophy at USC. As a founding member of Patchwerk Records in Atlanta, GA, Ras Kass maintains close ties with Patchwerk Studios, which is co-owned and operated by Curtis Daniel III. He is also the father of two children.
