Ratos de Porao is a hardcore/punk band hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, formed in 1981. The name "Ratos de Porão" translates to "Basement Rats" in Portuguese. The current lineup includes Boka (Maurício Alves Fernandez) on drums since 1991, João Gordo (João Francisco Benedan) on vocals since 1985, and Juninho (Paulo Sergio Sangiorgio Júnior) on bass since 2004. Jão (João Carlos Molina Esteves) has had a versatile role in the band, serving as vocals from 1981 to 1982 and 1984 to 1985, drums from 1983 to 1986, and guitars since 1986. The band has seen several members come and go over the years. Ex-members include Chiquinho on vocals in 1981, Mingau on guitars from 1982 to 1985, Betinho (Roberto Massetti) on drums from 1981 to 1983, Spaghetti on drums from 1986 to 1990, and Jabá (Jarbas Alves) on bass from 1981 to 1993. Other former bass players include Walter Bart (1993, 1994), Pica pau (1995–1999), Phú (1999), and Fralda (1999–2004).
