Raul Seixas was a Brazilian singer and songwriter, born on June 28, 1945, in Salvador, BA, and he passed away on August 21, 1989, in São Paulo, SP. Often referred to as the "Father of Brazilian Rock" and "Mad Beauty" (Maluco Beleza), he began his career in the 1960s as a member and leader of the group The Panthers, which was renamed in 1964. The group recorded a single album for Odeon in 1967, but it had little commercial success. In 1969, he started working at CBS in Rio De Janeiro, where he began to sign his work as Raul Seixas, taking on roles as a producer and artistic director. In 1971, he collaborated with his counter-culture peers, and in 1973, he released an album under a pseudonym, as well as his first solo album. Over his 26-year career, Raul Seixas produced a total of 21 albums, showcasing a musical style that spanned Rock 'N' Roll, Folk/Country Rock, and protest and love ballads. His work often touched on mystical themes, influenced by philosophical, psychological, historical, and literary interests, which garnered curiosity and a good reception.
