Ray Keith is a DJ and producer from Colchester, UK, known for his contributions to the breakbeat scene from the 1980s to the '90s. He began his career DJing soul, hip-hop, and rare-groove in Essex and Suffolk during the mid-1980s. As the acid house and hardcore movements emerged, he gained recognition, especially after a remix of Orbital's "Chime." Keith became a resident DJ at several venues, including Oscars in Clacton-On-Sea and The Crazy Club at the Astoria, and he later established the Best Of British organization. By the mid-'90s, he was a prominent figure in the drum'n'bass scene, known for his inspiring DJ sets and remixes. His production work, particularly the jump-up anthem "Terrorist," gained popularity, leading him to form three labels—Penny Black, Dread, and UFO—in 1996. He collaborated closely with Gavin Cheung (aka Nookie) and worked at Black Market Records, a leading dance shop in Britain. In 1997, he launched a new label, Dub Dread, and co-founded the Dread Entertainment Agency in 2003 with his partner, Lena.
