Ray Sawyer was an American vocalist and drummer, born on February 1, 1937, in Chickasaw, Alabama, USA. He initially trained as a professional drummer but gained fame as the lead singer of the rock band Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, later known simply as Dr. Hook, during the 1970s. Sawyer was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame in 2005. He passed away on December 31, 2018, in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA.
