Raze is a studio/concept group formed in 1986, spearheaded by New York multi-instrumentalist Vaughan Mason, known for his work with Vaughan Mason and Crew. The group's unique approach involved featuring a different lead singer on each track. One of their most notable collaborations was with soul singer Keith Thompson on the hit song "Break 4 Love," which is regarded as one of the best house songs ever recorded. This track marked Raze's only entry into urban radio, debuting at #24 on October 22, 1988, and remaining on the charts for 16 weeks. In addition to Thompson, Vaughan Mason collaborated with various artists including Ben Epps, Doug Lazy, Erique Dial, and Eric Scott. Later, Mason relocated to Washington D.C., where he established his Grove Street Records studio, which is now situated in Baltimore.
