Razen is a Brussels-based musical ensemble that debuted in 2010, focusing on the unique timbral and drone characteristics of their string and wind instruments. Their music blends pre-industrial, spectral, and ethnic dreamtones with elements of trance and medieval mysticism. Originally formed as a duo by Brecht Ameel and Kim Delcour, Razen has since expanded to include Pieter Lenaerts on 5-string double bass and sarangi, Paul Garriau on hurdy-gurdy, and David Poltrock on ondes-Martenot. The band has gained a strong reputation both in Belgium and internationally, known for their recorded works and dynamic live performances.
