Reba McEntire is an American country music artist, born on March 28, 1955, in Chockie, Oklahoma, USA. She was discovered while singing the National Anthem at the National Finals Rodeo in 1974 and signed with a record label the following year, recording her first tracks and single in 1976. After releasing six albums and achieving minor chart success, she scored her first top ten single in 1980, eventually reaching number one three years later. In 1984, she moved to a new label, gaining more control over her material and co-producing some of her albums. During the 1980s, she became one of the most prominent artists, realizing the importance of self-promotion and the emerging music video format. She won the CMA Entertainer of the Year award in 1986 and again in 1994, along with numerous Female Vocalist of the Year awards and Grammy awards, culminating in the Kennedy Center Honors in 2018. Throughout the 1990s, Reba became a major touring act and a cultural phenomenon, with multiple multi-platinum selling albums and elaborate stage shows, paving the way for countless country music artists. She has also ventured into acting, theater, and television, with her sitcom "Reba" remaining in syndication since its debut in 2001. Additionally, she is involved in publishing and philanthropy.
