Red Foley was an American singer, actor, musician, and radio and TV personality, born on June 17, 1910, in Blue Lick, Kentucky. He made significant contributions to the growth of country music after World War II. Foley appeared on the WLS National Barn Dance from 1930 to 1937 and the Renfro Valley Show from 1937 to 1939. He hosted the Ozark Jubilee series on ABC-TV from 1954 to 1960 and was a regular on the television show Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. In recognition of his impact on the genre, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1967. Red Foley passed away on September 19, 1968, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
