Danny Berman, known professionally as Red Rack'em, is a talented producer and DJ who began his career by releasing disco edits and remixes between 2004 and 2006. His work during this period received significant support from influential figures and institutions, including the Unabombers, Todd Terje, and Fat City. After a brief hiatus in 2007 to refine his original productions, Danny returned to the music scene in 2008 with the Laissez Faire EP under his Hot Coins project, which garnered acclaim and was recognized as record of the week by Piccadilly Records. His track "Norway Man" was featured on Fred Deakins’ 'Nu Balearica' compilation, leading to an album deal with Tirk Recordings. His recent work, including the Valiant Truth EP, has also been well received. Notably, Gilles Peterson has been a significant supporter of Danny’s music, featuring his tracks on Radio 1 and inviting him to perform at the 2009 Worldwide Awards, where he played after Jazzanova's first-ever UK live set. Danny's DJ sets are known for their eclectic and genre-blending style, reflecting his diverse production output, which includes cutting-edge Detroit 2 step as Marlinspike, wonky disco and cosmic boogie as Hot Coins, and beatdown house and glitchy hip hop as Red Rack'em. His work has earned respect from industry legends such as Carl Craig and the Idjut Boys.
