Danny Berman, known as Red Rack'em, began his music career by releasing a series of pirate soul remixes and disco edits between 2004 and 2006, gaining support from notable figures such as the Unabombers, Todd Terje, Swag, Yam Who, and Prins Thomas, as well as from respected institutions like Fat City and Piccadilly Records. After taking a break in 2007 to refine his original productions, he returned to the Hot Coins disco project in 2008 with the Laissez Faire EP on Society Records, which received acclaim and was named record of the week by Piccadilly. The lead track, "Norway Man," was featured on Fred Deakins' 'Nu Balearica' compilation on Ministry Of Sound. This success led to an album deal with Tirk Recordings, which released the well-received Valiant Truth EP. Gilles Peterson has been a significant supporter of Rack'em, featuring his Hot Coins tracks on Radio 1, including a highly praised remix of Joubert Singers’ "Stand On The Word." Peterson also showcased the Marlinspike Detroit 2 step project on his Worldwide radio show, describing Rack'em as "not being able to put a foot wrong right now."
