Red Rockers was a new wave and power pop band from New Orleans, Louisiana, active from 1979 to 1985. Initially, they went by several names including Stunn, James Jett, Derwood, Drummur, and The Rat Finks, before settling on their final name, inspired by a song they released in 1980. Their debut album featured a cover of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues," which included a guest vocal performance. In 1983, they experienced lineup changes, replacing their original drummer with an ex-drummer and later replacing their original guitarist in 1984. The band achieved notable success with hits such as "China," which peaked at No. 53 on the U.S. pop charts in 1983, and "'Till It All Falls Down," which reached No. 45 on the U.S. dance charts, both produced by the same individual. Their rendition of "Eve Of Destruction," originally a hit for Barry McGuire in 1965, reached No. 54 on the U.S. rock tracks chart in 1984. After disbanding in 1985, the members pursued various musical endeavors, with the guitarist-singer forming another band in 1990, while others joined different projects in the New Orleans music scene.
