Red Smiley was an American bluegrass and country musician, born on May 17, 1924, in Ashville, North Carolina. He was best known for his collaborations in the genre. Smiley passed away on January 2, 1972, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In recognition of his contributions to music, he was posthumously inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor in 1992, which is now known as the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.
