Redbone is an American rock band formed in 1969 in Los Angeles, California, by brothers originally from Fresno, CA. The band's name is a playful reference to a Cajun term for a mixed-race person, reflecting the members' Native American and Mexican heritage. Redbone's music blends rock with R&B, Cajun, jazz, tribal, and Latin influences. They achieved their first commercial success with the single "Maggie" from their second album, Potlatch, in 1970. This was followed by two other hit singles: "The Witch Queen of New Orleans," which reached #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1971, and "Come and Get Your Love," which peaked at #5 in 1974 and remained on the Billboard chart for 24 weeks. "Come and Get Your Love," written by Lolly Vasquez, was awarded a gold disc by the R.I.A.A. on April 22, 1974. As of September 3, 2014, the current members of Redbone include Pat Vegas (bass, vocals), Fernando Verdialez (guitar, vocals), Carlos Perez (guitar, vocals), Lee Wilson (drums), Vini Mars (guitar, vocals), Harlan Spector (keyboards), and Arturo Perez, who replaced Pete DePoe on the album "Already Here." Additionally, Mario Sanchez serves as a Native American singer and dancer for the band.
