Reggie Lucas was an American musician, songwriter, and producer born on February 25, 1953, in New York City. He began his career as a guitarist in the 1970s, initially in NYC and later in Philadelphia, collaborating with several well-known musicians. Lucas was a talented songwriter and producer, co-writing the Grammy-winning "Killing Me Softly" for Roberta Flack, among other hits. He also co-wrote and produced "Never Knew Love Like This Before" and "Borderline." In 1978, he formed a group with other artists, and in the 1980s, he created another group that released several albums. Throughout his career, Lucas continued to work as a producer and songwriter, collaborating with various artists. He received numerous awards, including four Grammy Awards, and was honored with the SESAC Legacy Award in 2018. Reggie Lucas passed away on May 19, 2018.
