Rene Bloch is an American saxophonist, flutist, composer, arranger, and orchestra leader, born in 1925. He grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Jefferson High School. Bloch played alto saxophone in swing bands and later in Latin jazz bands. He was a significant member of pianist Johnny Otis's band in 1945 and, in the mid-1950s, he began directing his own combos.
