Renegade Soundwave, also known as RSW, was a pioneering electronic music group formed in London during the late 1980s. The trio, consisting of Gary Asquith, Danny Briottet, and Carl Bonnie, became influential for their early use of sampling, computer technology, DJ skills, and sub-bass exploration, applying a punk and industrial ethic to dub and dancefloor electronica. They debuted on Rhythm King with the 1987 single "Kray Twins" and moved to Mute the following year for the EP "Biting My Nails." After spending two years recording material for an album, they released "Soundclash" and "In Dub" within six months, with the seminal album "RSW In Dub" connecting the emerging electronic, rave, dub, and indie scenes of the late 1980s and early 1990s. This album was a major influence on artists such as The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, and various electronic music movements. Their single "Probably A Robbery" reached the British Top 40 in early 1990, while "The Phantom" became an enduring anthem from the rave era.
