Reinaldo Godínez Roig, known as Rey Roig, was born in Cuba and began his musical journey with Conjunto Casino. He later played with Roberto Faz's group, the Conjunto de Luis Santi, and Los Jóvenes del Cayo, showcasing his talent as a trumpeter. Seeking new opportunities, he moved to New York, where he enrolled in a music school in Manhattan and completed his studies as a pianist, composer, and arranger. Adopting the name "Rey Roig," he was tasked with forming an orchestra for the opening of El Bronx Casino, one of the largest dance halls in the Bronx. In early 1963, he established the "Conjunto Sensación." Rey Roig is recognized as a talented piano player and Latin band leader.
