Reyna Tropical is a musical duo formed in 2016, consisting of Fabi Reyna and Nectali “Sumohair” Diaz. They met during a workshop series for emerging musicians, leading to an organic collaboration. Their first EP, released in January 2018, was created as a heartfelt project, aimed at documenting their artistic expression rather than for financial gain. Reyna, who had been focused on founding She Shreds, the first magazine dedicated to women and nonbinary guitarists, sought a creative outlet to reconnect with her musical roots. The self-titled EP showcased their unique sound, characterized by rhythmic, hip-swaying tropical vibes, featuring Ableton-made beats with Afro Indigenous drum patterns, environmental samples, dreamy guitar riffs, and soft vocals.
