Richard "Richie" Beirach was a renowned American jazz pianist and composer, born on May 23, 1947, in New York City. He passed away on January 26, 2026, in Worms, Germany. From 2000 to 2014, Beirach lived in Leipzig, where he held a professorship for jazz piano at the Leipzig conservatory "Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy." In 2015, he relocated to Heßheim.
