Richard Bone (born 1952) is recognized as one of the founding members of the New York electronic music scene. He began composing songs and improvisational pieces with the first commercially available synthesizers in 1979. His work in the underground pop and new wave genres of the early 1980s evolved into a style influenced by the pioneering works of Harold Budd and Brian Eno by the mid-1980s. By the 1990s, Bone shifted away from composing and recording vocal works, instead exploring ambient variations of electronica, lounge, jazz, and even bossa nova.
