Richard Evans was a U.S. bassist, composer, arranger, and producer, born on December 30, 1932, in Birmingham, Alabama. He passed away on October 5, 2014, in Natick, Massachusetts. Evans is best known for his work as a producer and arranger during the 1960s and early 1970s, collaborating with various artists. He also formed a group in that period and recorded several albums. In the 1970s and 1980s, he continued his career as a bassist and arranger, working with numerous artists. Additionally, he served as a music professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston for over two decades. In the late 1950s, Evans was briefly a member of Sun Ra's Arkestra, contributing to the early Ra album.
