Richard Galliano is an accomplished accordionist, composer, and arranger, born on December 12, 1950, in Cannes, France. In 1991, following the advice of a mentor he met in 1983, Galliano returned to his roots by exploring the traditional repertoire of waltz, java, tangos, and ballads that he had previously overlooked. By reviving the spirit of these genres, he has worked to transform the image of the accordion, focusing on rhythm conception and altering harmonies to adapt to jazz.
