Richard Stagg is a British orchestral flautist with over twenty years of experience in studying and performing on the shakuhachi. He initially taught himself to play the instrument and later received extensive lessons from a respected master. In addition to performing, Richard teaches, makes, repairs, and tunes shakuhachi, contributing to the community of non-Japanese players who appreciate the instrument's unique tradition, remarkable tonal range, and the challenges it presents in learning to play.
