Richard Thompson, OBE, born on April 3, 1949, in Notting Hill, London, England, is a British songwriter, guitarist, and musician known for his recording and performing career. He began his journey as a recording artist in September 1967 as a member of a band. Thompson was married from 1972 to 1982 and has three children: Maimuna, Teddy, and Kamila. In 1985, he married again and has a son named Jack, though they divorced in 2018. Since 2019, he has been in a relationship with a partner. He is also the grandfather of an unspecified number of grandchildren. In recognition of his talent, Thompson received the Orville H. Gibson award for best acoustic guitar player in 1991.
