Richie Rich, born Richard Serrel, is an Oakland, California-based rapper known for his laid-back vocal style and drawling delivery. He gained some recognition in the early 1990s with his minor hit "Let's Ride" and contributed to the remix of "I Got 5 On It." Richie Rich is noted for his influence on Snoop Dogg, who has acknowledged that his group was inspired by Rich's own group, which was named after Oakland's area code. Snoop has stated that he admired Rich's style and voice, which he incorporated into his own music. Richie Rich was also a close friend of Andre "Dre" Hicks, who was tragically killed in 2004, and their friendship dates back to Dre's second tape released in 1990. Throughout the mid-1990s, Richie Rich frequently collaborated with Tupac Shakur, further solidifying his presence in the hip-hop scene.
