Rick Astley (b. February 6, 1966, in Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, United Kingdom) emerged as a prominent figure in the dance/pop scene of the late '80s. He began his career in 1985 as a studio tea boy and released his first single in 1987. In 2007, Astley became the subject of a viral internet meme known as rickrolling, where millions of users were tricked into watching his music video "Never Gonna Give You Up" by posting it under various popular video titles.
