Klaus Norbert Küpper, known by his stage name Riovolt, was born and raised in Munich, Germany. He began playing drums at the age of 11 and later studied music at the Richard Strauss Conservatory. Throughout his career, he has lived on four continents and played in several bands, including "Agua Na Boca," featuring Brazilian diva Lilian Vieira from Zuco 103 as the lead vocalist. He ultimately chose Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to develop his unique electronic project. In 2000, Lilian visited his studio in Brazil, where they recorded a drum'n'bass version of the classic Brazilian samba 'O Ronco Da Cuica,' marking the birth of Riovolt. His first album, 'Digital Audio Bossa,' was released three years later when he returned to Munich. Riovolt is signed to the Italian label Irma Records (LaDouce).
