Rita Lee was a Brazilian rock singer, composer, and writer born on December 31, 1947, in the Vila Mariana district of São Paulo. She co-founded the Brazilian band Os Mutantes in 1966, alongside fellow musicians. The band released five albums between 1968 and 1972. During this time, Lee also released her first two solo works, produced with members of Os Mutantes. From 1972 to 1973, she briefly collaborated with another artist, and an LP with this duo was released for the first time in 2008. They performed at a festival during this period. Between 1974 and 1978, she released four albums with her backing band. From 1979 onwards, she released a series of albums credited to herself or as a duo with her husband. Rita Lee retired from live shows and studio recordings after the release of her album in 2012. She passed away at the age of 75 in São Paulo on May 8, 2023.
