The Ritchie Family is a female vocal trio formed in the mid-1970s, with roots extending into the 2020s. The original members, Cassandra Wooten and Cheryl Mason-Jacks, were previously part of a group that disbanded around 1972. They later attended the Philadelphia School of Performing Arts, where they met Ritchie Rome, who would lend his name to the Ritchie Family, adding a "T" to the name Richie. The trio's first album was recorded using session singers and musicians, with the original members not present during the recordings. After the album produced a hit, Wooten, Oliver, and Mason-Jacks auditioned and became the live performers for the group. Their second album, credited to The Ritchie Family, was co-written and produced by Ritchie Rome and established the trio as its first official members. Over the years, the group experienced various line-up changes but continued to produce hits. The original line-up reformed years later, achieving a top 40 dance hit in 2016. In late 2020, they announced plans to record a new song, which was eventually postponed to June 28, 2021. The Ritchie Family's history includes a significant reformation in the 2010s with original members, leading to a successful return to the music scene. Throughout their career, the group has seen various changes in membership and has continued to evolve, with their legacy enduring into the present.
