Robert Charlebois is a Canadian author, composer, musician, performer, and actor, born on June 25, 1944, in Montréal, Québec. He is an important figure in Francophone and French-Canadian music and is also nicknamed 'Garou' (not to be confused with another artist who came later). Charlebois grew up alongside a popular comedian and has collaborated with many prolific Québecois artists. He is known for performing 'L'Osti D'Show' in 1968 with another notable artist. Among his best-known songs are "Lindberg" and "Je Reviendrai À Montréal." His lyrics, often written in joual (the French patois of working-class Québec), are comedic and frequently utilize puns and double entendres. In 1970, Charlebois won the Sopot International Song Festival and performed "La Solitudine" in Italian with another singer that same year. He is also the founder of notable artistic initiatives.
